Many people think that Beyonce Knowles was just born with an astounding voice and that made her rise to the top quickly. But if you know anything about hard work, it is hardly quick or easy. How about we dive into Ms. Knowles ubringing?
Beyonce Giselle Knowles, born in Houston, Texas, always had a passion for music since she was a little girl. She participated in local talent shows, competing with girls in their teens and still beat them at the age of 7. It was obvious that Beyoncé was a little star on the rise.
Performing in local talent shows is a great way to expose your talent to locals! It’s always a great way to practice performing and singing in front of people. Start off with small shows and then gradually make it to bigger shows and auditions.
When Beyonce was 8, she formed a girl group named “Girls Tyme” with some of her friends. The group practiced day and night, perfecting their performances and singing. Mathew, the group’s manager and Beyonce’s father, set up a summer boot camp for the girls that trained the girls in dance and vocal lessons. The group even tested routines in local salons and their church.
How dedicated are you? Why not get a group of local singers together and help each other out! You don’t have to form a whole band but it’s simple to get people together, sing together, take constructive criticism, and better each other!!
Over time the group changed their name five times and lost some members but finally got signed to Columbia Records! Sounds great, right? But the work doesn’t stop here! Destiny’s Child worked hard and reached their first #1 single on the pop charts with “Bills, Bills, Bills.” The group’s success went up from there! It took a while but they made it to where they wanted to be. It’s all about consistency!
2003, Beyonce began her solo singing career with her first album, Dangerously In Love. The album won five Grammy Awards. In 2004, Destiny’s Child released their concluding album and broke up the next year. Beyonce continued on as a new solo artist.
Sometimes you have to realize when it’s time to focus on your own career and goals. Beyonce played it smart by making a name for herself first within the group. You must do things smartly and differently to get noticed in the music industry. Beyonce also has an amazing team behind her.
By 2013, Beyonce had won 16 Grammy Awards and broke multiple records. She is the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with her first five albums. That means every single solo album she has released has been successful!
What an inspiration right? She obviously worked extremely hard since, basically, she could walk. Her journey was long but it was worth it.
Your journey may get tiring and stressful but any time you want to quit, just read this story. It literally took Beyonce 14 years to release a solo album and it broke records!
Hard work and dedication is key and you cannot let anything be an excuse. Just think, “what would Beyonce do?” when you feel like giving up.
