It is a known fact that thousands of people attend an American Idol audition every season, but how many of those people are actually prepared for what’s going to happen? When going to an American Idol audition you can expect to:
- Wait for hours upon hours
- Auditioning in front of producers before you even get to the T.V. judges
- Receive last minute calls about your audition
- Go through multiple rounds of auditions
Now, what do these rounds consist of?
The first two rounds you will audition for contestant producers and executive producers. They may do things like may faces or look at you weird but no worries, this is just done to see how you are under pressure. Performing under pressure should be something that you’re ready for anyways if you want to be on a national television show.
Round three will consist of you singing in a dark room and you will stand on an “X.” Don’t let the dark room freak you out! This is just a test to see how you will be on the actual show.
You will be given an option to sing with a piano accompanist or you can choose not to. If you do choose to sing with an accompanist, you may be given an option to practice with them but you may not. Remember that this accompanist must play music for many other people so you must be prepared for them to mess up on your song. If that happens, continue with your song the best that you can!
If you pass round three you will receive the golden ticket! This means that you will audition in front of the celebrity judges and cameras. This audition is the most important so try to stay calm and keep your eye on the prize. The judges may ask you questions, make sure to hide your nerves. Remember to sing your heart out and perform the best that you can.
After this audition the rest is up to you! Hopefully this post has you feeling more prepared for your upcoming American Idol audition.
