Quick! What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the name, Ariana Grande? Is it her iconic high ponytail? Or maybe Thank U, next?
Either way, I’m sure you’ve heard the name of today’s hottest pop star. Known for her beautiful Soprano tone, Grande is one talented artist. But where did she get her start as a singer?
Ariana is a Florida native and began performing as a little girl.
It wasn’t until she starred in a broadway musical, called 13, that she got extensive exposure as the amazing performer she is. Once the musical came to a close, opportunities started rolling in.
You may remember her best as the character “Cat” on Victorious.
Known for her super high-pitched voice and fire red hair, Grande made quite an impression in the show. The show was perfect for her because it was based on several students attending an arts school. This allowed her to showcase her natural talent in a way that could expose her to an even bigger audience. The cast even made a soundtrack for the show which was honestly really good. I’ll never forget the first time I heard her song on the show, I instantly had to know her name.
Ariana also had YouTube videos, covering her favorite tunes.
I specifically remember her covering “Emotions” by Mariah Carey, and that’s how I knew she’d be a star. To take on such an iconic song and be able to hit those Mariah Carey whistle tones is very rare. And she killed it!! (by the way WATCH IT https://youtu.be/UjzENV7rhhI )
In 2011 Ariana Grande signed to Republic Records
In 2011 Ariana Grande signed to Republic Records and she’s been making hits ever since. Her first single was called “Put Your Hearts Up” which was the perfect introduction to her persona. Ariana Grande is sweet yet fierce, and you can tell she is influenced by her love for musical theatre. She’s got R&B flavor with a hint of Pop and since day one her fans have been here for it!
In 2013 she released her debut album titled, “Yours Truly.” Her hit single “The Way” featuring the late rapper Mac Miller topped charts and gained a lot of traction for the album. The next year she released the album “My Everything” and then proceeded to release 3 more albums within the next 5 years!
Today, Grande is a total star!
She has been on 4 of her own tours, headlined the Coachella festival the year after Beyoncé Knowles, and is now the face of Givenchy!
All it took for this Florida girl to succeed was belief in her own dreams and hard work, which she expresses on her social media page. The amount of gratitude she has for her life today shows just how much she wanted these opportunities to blossom. Her hard work shows through her live performances and constant top-charting hits. The crazy thing is, she’s just getting started! She is definitely the epitome of go Grande or go home.
