I love Music. I love creating, playing, singing, performing, recording and producing  music.  What I love more is helping others feel confident in doing the same.

People get so hung up on whether or not their singing or music is good? It just eats away at them. I see it hindering their confidence and overall happiness, every day.

I believe that music and art is what soothes the soul and makes life beautiful.  You can sing or hum even if only to yourself no matter what the situation and it can really soothe and bring peace, or excitement, resolve feelings and many more emotions in between.

If you’re someone who feels stopped by the endless question of whether or not they are “good” enough to be a singer here’s some help:

  1. Be okay with starting where you are…

Be okay with starting where you are then work on improving. The most important person it needs to sound good to is you, because your confidence lives within you. Do not ask others what they think of your voice (see #3). Instead of focusing on the negativities, find some parts of your voice you like, and then build on those. It’s okay if it takes a few days to figure them out.

That’s what they call in the music business, your strengths. And every famous singer is know for having their strengths. Start with and work on expanding your best qualities. Trust yourself, you know what they are, because it’s the vocal ability you find yourself doing most often.

  2. Be willing to learn, practice and practice some more.

Get over thinking you are going to do it perfect the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th time. Anything you’ve every gotten good at doing, was done by messing up way too many times, before you ever did it right. Think riding a bike, driving a car, or even learning to walk as a baby!

Messing up, is what the artists that you admire most did.  You never know how far, having the ability to keep at it will take you. You only see the famous singers you watch on youtube, or TV after they have gotten through all the mistakes it took them to sound the way they sound today.

  3. Most of all don’t believe those that say you can’t.

They are only speaking of their own experiences. They only know they listened to the criticism,  failed and they really can’t predict your future or your potential. Most likely they are only trying to get you to do what they did, which is to stop. So, don’t.  They are not happy with their decisions and  actions and you won’t be either.

Don’t Take The Easy Route

The only way to know if you are good enough to become a singer is by knowing you are and deciding that you’re worth the work and practice it takes to sound the way you wanna sound!

Believe me, it’s really easy to give up. Most people do. But if you are brave enough and determined enough to never give up on yourself, you’ll make it too!
