Sam Smith Just like many singers Sam Smith began performing as a child, in a bittersweet occurrence. The first real press he got came in 2009, when his mother, a successful banker, was fired for allegedly promoting her 15-year-old son’s singing career while on company time.

This was the beginning of Sam Smith’s globally recognized career leading to breakthroughs in Smiths career. Such as, Sam Smith’s first moment in the spotlight which would come when the dance/electronica duo Disclosure released its 2012 song “Latch”. This song showcased the power, fluidity and swagger in Sam’s falsetto.

Smith tends to lean towards songs composed of lyrics that have a heartfelt and deeply emotional meanings. Sam’s most memorable hit “Stay with me” was about a break up he had with a guy fell in love with. Now Smith’s new album the thrill of it all has songs ranging from, “Him” which would appear to be about Christian faith and homosexuality. This song shows a different side to his voice with more rasp, and cracks creating a rougher sound in the artist voice. Then there are others such as “Pray” a very soulful track with a full choir backing Sam’s vocals.

Sam Smith I think its safe to say the majority of us today have taken a liking to Sam Smith. For his instantly recognizable voice and look forward to more and more success from him in the future.
